The triennial International Congress on SLE will be held in Shanghai, China on May 23-27, 2007. It is summit meeting for all leading specialists in the field of SLE, and a grand gathering for basic researchers and clinical experts of different specialties from all over the world.
The scientific program of this Congress covers cutting-edge development in basic research, the latest advance of clinical management and rapid progress in translational medicine. I am sure the congress will offer all participants an extensive review and update in their own special fields. As a 5th century Chinese poem from Tang Dynasty described, “To Gain a Thousand Miles of Sight, Let’s Strive to Go Up One More Flight”. This international Congress on SLE will certainly provide us with an opportunity to step up and gain a broader vision for further development of “Lupology”.
Up to now, more than 60 world top experts have committed to be speakers at this Congress, and the number is still increasing. We will also have a parallel patient program, a “Walk/Run for International Lupus Day”, and many other activities, so that we can have a better understanding of the disease from a patients’ perspective. As clinicians, we all dream of the better care of our lupus patients in the 21st century. “Healthy, Competent and Pretty” is our goal for clinical management of lupus.
In addition to scientific programs, this congress will also offer abundant choices for social programs, such as various city tours and gala dinner. You will have an amazing experience exploring the most rapidly developing city of the world, Shanghai, where East meets West, Past joins Present, and get to know the Chinese culture in all aspects including history, religion and fine cuisine.
As the Chairman of the Congress, once again, I would like to extend my cordial and warm welcome to all of you, to join us for this exciting gathering with our colleagues and friends from all over the world. Just come over to Shanghai in May 2007!
